Thinking about coming to Thursday’s AMA luncheon? You don’t want to miss it. Speaker Kevin Verner is sure to discus the best ways to stay in the game of branding.
Here’s a list of fun facts about our speaker so you can get to know him a little more before Thursday:
- Kevin is on Board of Directors of Bally Technologies – one of the world’s largest gaming and technology companies.
- Kevin has been a guest lecturer on marketing and branding at a variety of schools including University of Michigan, DePaul and Loyola Universities in Chicago and Salem College
- Kevin is a rabid University of Michigan football fan and have the same season ticket seats for nearly thirty years.
- Kevin’s degree from Michigan is in Economics and his graduate work at University of Toledo was in Econometrics and Statistics.
- Kevin has never taken a business class in his life. He was recruited into Brand Management at R. J. Reynolds from the marketing research department largely because he played poker with the Director of Marketing at the time.
- Kevin is a history buff and has been working on two history books for over 10+ years. His favorite quote is “The lesson of history is rarely learned by the actors themselves.”
- Kevin spent sixteen years at RJ Reynolds and then was recruited to run WMS Gaming in Chicago. The rationale was that gamers and gamblers have a high incidence of smoking and drinking. The Board wanted a consumer focus and wanted a candidate that understood the target market and the marketing of highly regulated – if not controversial - adult products.
- After sixteen years at a Fortune 100 company, Kevin decided to manage smaller companies and start-up ventures which include a science-curriculum program at Penn State Medical School, a tablet technology for paperless check-in for physician offices, and a company specializing in digital and biometric security authorization.
We hope to see you this Thursday, April 2, to learn more from our distinguished speaker. Register and pay in advance on the Charleston AMA website.
